Spanish Phrases: Names of sports in Spanish
The good news is that many names of sports in Spanish are essentially the
same as in English, though often with Hispanicised spellings. Variation is found in
the pronunciation and use of accents on some of these sport names.
Genders: sport names are generally masculine, unless
obviously feminine (lucha, esgrima).

implies a different game depending on the country. In Latin America, it generally implies American
football. In Spain, you can specify fúbol americano.
